| Why does Allan Hancock College need money when they are subsidized by the State? |
California community colleges, by any measure, are underfunded. Community colleges receive less funding per full-time student than K-12 ($7,080 annually), CSU ($10,822 annually) and UC ($25,554 annually). California community colleges receive $4,675 annually per full-time equivalent student. Furthermore, community college funding increases since 1975 have been less than for the other three systems. Compared to other states, California community colleges receive about half the funding per full-time student.
Allan Hancock College is a low revenue district - it receives approximately $475,000 less in state funding annually than the average for California community colleges. Why does the taxpayer need to contribute when they already do through taxes? As stated above, taxpayer support is limited. If Allan Hancock College is to offer affordable, quality higher education close to home, it needs the support of the community. A contribution to Allan Hancock College Hancock College is an investment in the community.

| We are constantly giving. Why should we give? |
The college is the focus for educating the community. It prepares members of our community for the work force, it provides everyone the opportunity to improve their personal and professional skills, and it prepares the lower division students to transfer to a four-year college.

| Does the Foundation currently have an endowment program? |
Yes, an endowment program does currently exist within the foundation. Donors can give a gift that will benefit the college and students in perpetuity. A gift of $10,000 or more will establish an endowed account. The donor designates his/her guideline preference at the time the account is established and the fund will continue in perpetuity.

| What are the benefits of an endowment to support education? |
Endowments ensure long-term resources for the college. It provides a guaranteed base of additional funding for the ongoing and increasing needs of the college and its students.

| How do I know you will still be following my directions 20 years from now? |
The foundation is a 501c(3) nonprofit corporation and legally regulated. Also, the college has been serving the community for more than 80 years. You can be sure that it is stable and will be here for future generations. Your specific instructions for an endowment are legally binding.

| Who really benefits from the foundation funds? |
Students and the community are the true beneficiaries of all the fundraising campaigns. The community ensures additional resources to provide quality education for students in our community.

| What is the smallest gift the foundation will accept? |
No gift is too small. Every gift makes a difference.
