Leonard Marshman Elected Hancock
Foundation Board President
|
|
Longtime Santa Ynez Valley resident and
local leader Leonard S. Marshman has been elected president of the
Allan Hancock College Foundation. Mr. Marshman oversees a distinguished volunteer board of 27
individuals representing all regions of northern Santa Barbara
County. He has been a
member of the foundation board since 1999, and served as its vice
president last year.

The
foundation serves as the fundraising arm of the college to advance
education by providing financial resources and enhancing community
support. Its assets
currently top $3.6 million.
|
|
“Mr.
Marshman is an extremely focused, hard working gentleman who sets
high goals and attains them. We
are delighted to work closely with him as president of the board,
and appreciate his many years of experience,” said Deborah
Peterson, the AHC Foundation executive director.

|
During
his 27 years as a resident of the valley, Marshman has been actively
involved in many civic organizations whose goals have been to
improve the quality of life in the valley.
He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Solvang
Friendship House Foundation, general chairman of the Santa Ynez
Valley YMCA Capital Campaign, a member of the 25 Year Club of the
Petroleum Industry, president of the Los Padres Wine and Food
Society, and a member of the Vikings of Solvang, and several other
organizations.

In
December 1999 he was named “Honoree” of the Santa Ynez Valley
Cottage Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Crystal Ball and “Rotarian of
the Year” by the Solvang Rotary Club.
He also was a member of the “Man of the Year Circle of
Honor” presented by the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation and the Santa
Ynez Valley News.

As a
patron of the arts, his interest and participation spans various
arts organizations. He
has also found time for involvement in prestigious groups outside of
the valley including his role as past president of the Jonathan
Club, Los Angeles; and as a member of the President’s Advisory
Council of the Santa Barbara Symphony.
