Longtime Santa Ynez Valley resident and local leader Leonard S. The foundation serves as the fundraising arm of the college to advance education by providing financial resources and enhancing community support.  Its assets currently top $3.6 million.

“Mr. Marshman is an extremely focused, hard working gentleman who sets high goals and attains them.  We are delighted to work closely with him as president of the board, and appreciate his many years of experience,” said Deborah Peterson, the AHC Foundation executive director.

During his 27 years as a resident of the valley, Marshman has been actively involved in many civic organizations whose goals have been to improve the quality of life in the valley.  He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Solvang Friendship House Foundation, general chairman of the Santa Ynez Valley YMCA Capital Campaign, a member of the 25 Year Club of the Petroleum Industry, president of the Los Padres Wine and Food Society, and a member of the Vikings of Solvang, and several other organizations.

In December 1999 he was named “Honoree” of the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital Auxiliary Holiday Crystal Ball and “Rotarian of the Year” by the Solvang Rotary Club.  He also was a member of the “Man of the Year Circle of Honor” presented by the Santa Ynez Valley Foundation and the Santa Ynez Valley News.

As a patron of the arts, his interest and participation spans various arts organizations.  He has also found time for involvement in prestigious groups outside of the valley including his role as past president of the Jonathan Club, Los Angeles; and as a member of the President’s Advisory Council of the Santa Barbara Symphony.
