Allan Hancock College Foundation Welcomes Five New
Directors and Elects Officers |
|
The Allan Hancock College Foundation
has appointed three new directors, two returning directors and has
elected new officers for 2003. Each new director will serve
one-year terms renewable for an additional two years.
|
|
The new directors are Santa Maria
residents
Mario A. Juarez, attorney with Chern & Brenneman;
Vincent
T. Martinez, Esq., managing partner with Twitchell and Rice, LLP;
and Pismo Beach resident Ernest DeGasparis (no photo available),
partner in the law offices of Weldon & DeGasparis in Santa Maria.
DeGasparis is also a former instructor at Allan Hancock College. |

Returning for additional terms,
Royce
R. Lewellen, retired Superior Court Judge and
Brian Allison, owner
of House of Glass, each rejoin the foundation board for a three-year
term. |

The elected officers for 2003 are
Robert Moss, M.D., president; Katherine Sheehy, vice president; Sue
J. Sword, secretary; Michael T. Galloway, treasurer; and Eddie
Stanfield, past president.
Moss is a surgeon and owner of Santa Maria Surgical Group, Inc. and
is serving his second year as president.
Sheehy is a teacher at Santa Maria’s St. Louis de Montfort School
and is serving her first year as vice president. |

Sword is the retired president and
manager of Santa Maria Valley Railroad Company and has served as
secretary to the board of directors for three years.
Michael T. Galloway is a partner/CPA at Andrews, Galloway &
Associates in Santa Maria and is in his second year as treasurer,
while Eddie Stanfield is a Broker Associate of Century 21 Advantage
in Santa Maria and will serve his first year as past president. |

In addition to the new
directors and elected officers, Allan Hancock College board of
trustees members Henry M. Grennan and Richard Jacoby were appointed
as representatives to the foundation board. Grennan begins his third
year, while Jacoby replaces Carol Anders who fulfilled her third
year in 2002. |
|
Allan Hancock College Foundation executive director Tim Flemming
describes the mission of the foundation to support the pursuit and
achievement of academic accomplishment for students and faculty.
“The most important role we can play in supporting our community
college is to strive to bring in additional financial resources to
provide more scholarships for deserving and qualified students, to
support faculty, and to assist the college in meeting its capital
needs in areas of equipment and facilities.” Last year, Flemming
reports the foundation raised $1,256,000. |
